With a career focused on government and government sponsored programs, Molly Dean, Senior Consultant, joined State Health Partners with a passion to ensure that government solutions drive value and high quality health care for the individuals that Medicaid programs serve.
As Senior Policy Advisor to the Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources and Deputy Director of the Virginia Health Reform Initiative under Governor Bob McDonnell, Molly was responsible for recommending and shaping health reform policy and accompanying legislative strategies. In her concluding position with state government, Molly served as Senior Advisor to the Director of the Virginia Medicaid program. In this role she was responsible for coordinating the design and served as the chief author and negotiator of a federal Medicaid waiver program serving individuals with serious mental illness. In all facets of her time in public service, Molly worked with various stakeholders, understanding the value and importance of bringing together the public and private sectors to drive solutions for those in need of care.
In addition to her work in government, Molly served as Vice President with AllyAlign Health, an industry leader in provider owned Medicare Special Needs Plans. She managed both plan development and implementation efforts, ensuring coordinated and successful SNP launches in various markets. Most recently, Molly worked as Chief of Staff at Cardinal Innovations Healthcare overseeing the delivery of managed behavioral health services for Medicaid members in North Carolina.
Molly brings applied knowledge of policy development, program design, implementation, and operations to State Health Partners. Molly’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Psychology from Meredith College and a Master of Social Work Administration, Planning, and Public Policy from Virginia Commonwealth University.
